Care instructions
Caring for your Kantha
Dry clean for best results. If hand-washing, use cold water and a gentle detergent — never wring or twist. Store folded in a soft muslin or cotton cloth. Keep away from prolonged sunlight to preserve the embroidery colours.
A well-cared-for Kantha piece lasts a lifetime. Some of our customers have passed theirs on.
The Artisan Note
Made by hand in Bengal
Every Kantha by Farah Khan piece is made by women artisans in rural West Bengal — many of whom learned this stitch from their mothers, who learned it from theirs. When you buy this piece, you are part of that chain.
Colour Note
A note on colour: natural silk and tussar absorb light differently than a screen can show. The actual piece may appear slightly deeper or more luminous than photographed — in our experience, always more beautiful in person.
